The King's Birthday

On Tuesday, 11 June, our school choir together with the marimba band were invited to the British High Commissioner’s residence to celebrate King Charles’s birthday. Since the High Commissioner’s residence is close to school, we had such fun walking there and back. Once we got there, we had our lunch in readiness for our performances, and as soon as we were done eating, the marimba band took their positions to play for the invited guests, who were representing different organisations and countries.

You could see that the guests were enjoying every second of the marimba songs. Some of them stood in front of the marimbas and danced to the music. This encouraged us to play more energetic and lively. Thereafter, the choir opened the proceedings with singing the national anthems of Botswana, ‘Pina ya Sechaba’, and that of the United Kingdom, ‘God save the King’.

Thank you to our music department for organising this and giving us such a wonderful opportunity to showcase our talents.

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the Thornhill Primary School website, filled with information which, we hope, will attract your interest and serve to give a sense of the rich flavour of life at our school.
