Reception Bell Ringing
Reception Bell Ringing
On the first Friday of the term, our Reception children were introduced to the school community in a special assembly alongside the Std 7 year group. This event marked a meaningful milestone in building a sense of unity and connection within Thornhill Primary. The purpose of the assembly was to officially welcome the newest members of our school family and emphasise the importance of togetherness and shared responsibility.
The gathering took place in the Foundation Phase Hall, where the excitement and curiosity were palpable as the older and younger students filled the space. The assembly began with both year groups singing familiar songs. The Reception children, full of enthusiasm, showed their natural love for singing, while the Std 7 pupils performed the School Song, ‘We Are Happy Children’, reinforcing their pride in being part of the Thornhill community and echoing the school’s values and traditions.
A standout moment came with the symbolic ringing of the bell - an activity that marked the beginning of the Reception pupils’ 8-year journey at Thornhill Primary. Each Std 7 student was paired with a Reception child to create a mentorship bond. These older students helped guide their younger ‘buddies’ out of the hall, where each Reception child had the honour of ringing the bell, signifying the start of their new adventure at Thornhill.
