Robotics & Coding in ICT
Robotics & Coding in ICT
This term, our ICT labs are a hive of creativity as we jump into coding and robotics adventures across all the year groups, from Rec to Std 7. Our youngest coders in the Foundation Phase will be having a blast with friendly robots like E.a.R.L and mTiny. These programmable floor robots let them explore basic coding concepts like sequencing and direction, navigating their robot through various maps and worlds. As the age increases, so do the coding challenges.
In Std 3, we are using block-based coding platforms like ScratchJr. Here, the children build animations and even simple games, all while learning valuable problem-solving skills.
Std 4 and 5 use more block-based coding, but they explore a few more complex coding concepts such as functions, procedures and even conditionals and how they can even be used in real life. They also jump into robotics building using Lego and programming their creations.
Finally, in Std 6 & 7, we start with a lot more text based coding from languages like Python, Swift and Javascript. We explore the world of Swift Playgrounds, build robots with MakeBlock and code and build with Cubroid.
It is an exciting term ahead and this is just a taste of the coding and robotics journey we are on. So, keep an eye out for amazing robot creations and exciting coding projects in the labs.
