U9 Netball Camp
U9 Netball Camp
This year’s camp saw a record attendance of 29 girls! It’s pleasing to see that our little girls are getting back into sport and excited to be on the courts. We were once again able to get Victoria Graves and Wedu Chilume (Thornhill Alumni currently playing netball at Maruapula School) to help facilitate the camp, along with Mrs Graves. Victoria worked with the shooters while Wedu worked with the defenders, and the skills imparted by the two girls were evident during the mini matches that took place at the end of the training sessions.
Our U9 girls were energetic and enthusiastic – being on their feet for the three and half hours of camp. The snack and juice breaks seemed to be the least of the girls’ concern and had to be, at times, enforced by the camp leaders. Thornhill provided a great spread of treats which included goodie bags, doughnuts, biscuits and juice. The girls felt very spoilt.
The camp was a mix of discipline, skill building and fun, allowing for a well-rounded experience. At the end of the camp, the girls were placed into teams for the term, and are encouraged to attend netball practices as part of their afternoon activities on Mondays and Wednesdays at 1:30pm.
We are looking forward to an exciting term of netball.
